Check your video's specs before you post

Drop a file into the tool above and get its duration, resolution, aspect ratio and file size instantly. Everything runs locally in your browser using standard web APIs — the file is never uploaded anywhere, so it's safe to use on unreleased tracks, client work and anything under NDA.

Why the aspect ratio actually matters

Every platform expects a different shape, and getting it wrong is the most common reason a good video looks bad in the feed:

  • 16:9 — YouTube and landscape players. A vertical video here gets pillar- boxed with black bars on the sides.
  • 9:16 — TikTok, Reels and Shorts. A landscape video here is letterboxed into a tiny strip and loses the viewer in the first second.
  • 1:1 — square feed posts, which crop the top and bottom off a 16:9 master if you don't plan for it.

Knowing the real resolution and ratio before you export saves a full re-render and keeps faces and captions out of the unsafe edges.

How to use it

  1. Click the picker above and choose any video file.
  2. Read back the duration, exact pixel resolution, simplified aspect ratio, and the platform it best fits.
  3. Nothing is sent to a server — close the tab and it's gone.

From "what shape is this" to "make the whole video"

Inspecting specs is step zero. If you have a finished track or an article and you want the actual video — generated, cut, synced and platform-ready — that's the rest of what Muvideo does. Drop an MP3 and get a music video, or paste an article URL and get a narrated documentary, with the picture locked to the audio 1:1 and the aspect ratio you choose baked in from the start.

Who uses this

DJs and producers checking a render before a release. Social managers confirming a clip will fill the frame on TikTok instead of getting letterboxed. Editors sanity-checking a client deliverable against the brief. Anyone who has ever posted a video, watched it get cropped or boxed, and had to re-export — this is the thirty-second check that prevents that, and it costs nothing and shares nothing.

The inspector is free and always will be — it's genuinely useful on its own. When you need the finished video instead of just its dimensions, the free trial is the next step.
